He could make an elf's ears twitch and could make an Orc melt. Yes, Karl Urban is the Sexiest Man of Middle-earth and this earth, for that matter.
People Magazine recently proclaimed this star of "Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers'' (continuing at local theaters) as one of the chosen testosterone ones in their Sexiest Man Alive issue.
Of course, someone bats his eyes and begs to differ.
"Being sexy is not something I think about. It's not part of my day-to-day reality when I'm home walking my dog. It's not like I'm going, 'God, I'm sexy.' If I ever said that out loud, my dog would certainly look up at me and say, 'Don't go there.'"
In "The Two Towers,'' he plays Eomer, the nephew of over-the-hill King Theoen and brother of Eowyn. Yes, girls, he's a human and a fierce warrior to boot.
In real life, things were a bit more tepid. The native of Wellington, New Zealand, got his start on TV as a child and then landed his feature film debut in "Heaven.'' He also appeared in the recent "Ghost Ship.'' As for the fallout of "Rings,'' Urban says he's keeping a low profile.
"I didn't go out and get into any fights during the making of 'Rings,' so that won't make the airwaves in the States,'' he says.
He does have his own action figure now, which puts a frown on his handsome mug. "Having a doll is weird and scary. I remember what I used to do to my action figures. I'd behead them, take off their arms and then go burn them with my magnifying glasses."
